Microsoft and Nintendo sign a 10-year agreement for Call of Duty. Call of Duty is one of the most popular and successful video game franchises in history, and it has traditionally been available on multiple platforms, including Nintendo and Microsoft’s Xbox. If Nintendo were to sign a 10-year exclusive deal with Microsoft to bring Call of Duty only to the Xbox platform, it would likely upset many Nintendo fans who have come to expect access to the game on their preferred console. Earlier Microsoft agreements had resulted in titles being Microsoft exclusives, and as a result of its acquisition of Bethesda, the new game Starfield was restricted to Xbox and PC.

“We are aware of these changes,” a CMA spokeswoman stated, “and will continue to monitor the competitive situation throughout our inquiry.”
